Heini Lehtinen is creative director, designer, writer and curator. After years of working in the design and arts sectors in Finland, The Netherlands, and Belgium, she holds an international perspective to developing concepts, content and publications for private and public organisations and cultural institutions. Previously, she has worked as design journalist, editor-in-chief, editor and founder of several publications and platforms.
     She is co-editor of the book Studio Time—Future Thinking in Art and Design (Black Dog Press, UK 2018) with Jan Boelen and Ils Huygens, and co-founder of online gallery and publication Fictional Journal (2016) with Sophie Rzepecky. She is co-curator of Enter and Encounter (2017) exhibition for the Design Museum in Helsinki. Among others, she has initiated and produced Spaces of Peace—Architecture as Contextual Diplomacy seminar in Brussels for EU2019, Finland's Presidency of the Council of the EU (2019), and Urban Design and Mental Well-being talk for Helsinki Design Week (2018).
      Her personal practice focuses on revealing new perspectives to designing everyday environments through a synoptic and transdisciplinary approach that often combines architecture, design and arts with aesthetics, natural sciences, mythologies, phenomenology, psychology, sexuality, and neuroscience.
     Observing relations, connections and balance between extremes, her research themes include Design for Connectedness, Biocentric Design, and Beauty in Exile.
     With deep respect for nature, her personal interests include dancing meditation, swimming in natural waters, kayaking, hiking, beauty and the uncanny, curiosities, antiques and vintage, holistic well-being and mind-body connection. She lives in a small countryside village by a river in Southern Finland, an hour from Helsinki. —
